Nuclear Energy Sector Analysis: Top Performing Stocks To Buy

Introduction

In a world that is highly dependent on energy, the way we generate and consume it plays a very important role in shaping our future. If we look at the stats  then almost 20% of the world's energy consumption comes from electricity. The remaining 80% is produced through sources like coal, petrol, diesel, and gas, emitting harmful carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

The results are very serious, adding to harm to the environment and making the climate crisis even more imminent. But for this greater cause, people worldwide are coming together to tackle this problem by focusing on clean energy options such as solar power, wind energy, renewables, and the emerging solution– nuclear energy.

Nuclear Energy: A Global Solution

A recent United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, held in Dubai, saw more than 70,000 participants from around the world discussing ways to address climate change and achieve net-zero emissions. This global effort reflects the need for clean energy solutions to fight the environmental challenges we face.

The Role of Nuclear Energy

So, what makes nuclear energy stand out in this global effort? Nuclear energy is a zero-net carbon emission solution, making it a key player in the race towards a sustainable future. It's not just about producing electricity, nuclear energy also contributes to the production of green hydrogen, a clean energy source that holds great promise for reducing our reliance on traditional fossil fuels.

India's Nuclear Energy Journey

India, too, is actively contributing to this green revolution. With 23 nuclear power reactors currently in operation, India has generated a substantial 411 billion units of electricity over the past decade. This has not only provided a significant boost to the country's energy needs but has also resulted in a remarkable reduction of 353 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Looking to the Future

India's plans for the future look ambitious and promising. By 2031-32, the country aims to triple its nuclear capacity from 7,480 MW to an impressive 22,480 MW. This includes the ongoing work on 10 nuclear reactors spread across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, a collaboration with the USA has been approved for the construction of 6 nuclear reactors in Andhra Pradesh.
